THE Gazette looks at what’s on during the first Annual Alnwick Hallowe’en Festival, which starts tomorrow and runs until Monday, October 31.

Night Bus: Hop on/off this ride around the spooky sights of Alnwick in a vintage bus with a ghostly conductor. Saturday and Sunday, 5.30pm–7.30pm. Pick up in Alnwick Market Place every half-hour.

Things That Go Bump In The Night: Stories, poems and tales for U10s by firelight. In the Station Waiting Room at Barter Books. Saturday and Sunday, 4.30pm–5.30pm. Free admission by ticket (limited to 50 each night). Tickets available from Barter Books.

Ghost Stories: Naughty and spooky tales for children. Sunday, Alnwick Market Place, 6pm–8pm. Free.

Best Witch/Wizard Competition: £50 prize for best dressed witch/wizard – must be carrying a wand. Saturday, Alnwick Market Place (or Northumberland Hall if wet), 6pm–8pm. Entry forms available on the night, £3pp.

Scary Scenes: See the scary scenes around the town. Map available from festival organisers or Alnwick Tourist Information Centre. Every day. Answer short quiz and stand chance of winning £50.

Refreshments in Alnwick Market Place on Saturday and Sunday, 6pm–8pm, and buskers, street theatre etc in town during festival.
