Alnwick Playhouse hosts the second in its series of plays broadcast live from the National Theatre next week.
Simon Russell Beale takes the title role in Timon of Athens – Shakespeare’s strange fable of consumption, debt and ruin, written in collaboration with Thomas Middleton.
Wealthy friend to the rich and powerful, patron of the arts and ostentatious host, Timon of Athens is surrounded by free-loaders and sycophants.
The Playhouse is able to offer these performances thanks to the installation of its new digital projector with a live satellite link-up. The first performance was Last of the Haussmans, which took place earlier this month.
Timon of Athens, rated 12a, takes place at 7pm on Thursday, November 1. Tickets £14, £13 conc or £15 premier.
