Tomorrow night at Alnwick Playhouse is all about young people, as they take over the community arts venue for a night of entertainment.
As reported in last week’s Gazette, the first Young Alnwick Playhouse evening is taking place, made possible by a grant from thanks to a successful bid to the BBC Performing Arts Fund – one of only 58 in the country.
The main features are a theatre production from the Senior group of Alnwick Playhouse Youth Theatre and a documentary film revealing the behind-the-scenes making of the Duchess’s Community High School’s latest musical extravaganza, Return to the Forbidden Planet.
But there will be more entertainment as well, as the programming and organisation of the night has been done by young people, in particular, a group working towards their Silver Arts Awards.
They have organised live music and are looking at other aspects of the night, including a compere and mocktails to sell to under 18s, which will try to encourage more involvement from young people at the Playhouse.
The evening starts at 7.30pm and tickets, which cost £8, £7 concessions or £6 for children and students, are available from the box office, on 01665 510785 or www.alnwickplayhouse.co.uk
