A new gallery launched by a husband and wife team is staging its official opening event tonight.
Jason and Claire Gallagher head up The Design Room Art Gallery, in Alnwick.
Based in The Old Town Hall Shop in the Market Place, the venue opened its doors about two weeks ago.
But the couple decided to delay the official unveiling until tonight.
It will be open to the public from 7pm to 9pm and guest artist Pauline Alldis will be in attendance, as will some of the couple’s favourite local artists.
Claire said: “It has been really busy since we opened a few weeks ago. It has gone well so far.
“We are inviting the public to celebrate the opening of our new gallery tomorrow evening.”
The gallery will feature mainly original pieces and artists on show include Alnwick’s Ken Spencer, Alnmouth’s Francesca Simpson and Joanne Wishart, who works from her Newcastle-based studio.
The new venture is an expansion of Claire and Jason’s Design Room Art Gallery business, as they also have premises in Wooler, which opened around five years ago.
Claire said: “The gallery does really well in Wooler, but Wooler is quite a quiet little town, so we also wanted to open up a gallery in a bigger town with a bigger clientele. The response has been good so far.”
Claire adds that the couple decided to move into The Old Town Hall Shop because the ‘opportunity came up’.
The property was a former painting and decorating store.
The gallery is open Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10am to 4.30pm.
