Glowing camp at a coastal castle

Appearing from dusk ‘til dawn, glowing tents will be set against a famous north Northumberland coastal landmark.

Peace Camp, director Deborah Warner’s commission for the London 2012 Festival, will be at Dunstanburgh Castle from today until Sunday, July 22.

Actor Fiona Shaw has worked with Mel Mercier on the soundscape, collecting hundreds of recordings by actors, poets, writers, and the general public, weaving together their murmuring voices into a symphony of sound as love poetry, words, signals and noises in counterpoint to ambient sounds of the natural environment.

The soundscape will encompass poems from across the centuries and in all the languages and accents of our islands, including Gaelic.
