Focus on life down on the farm

Photography Exhibition, Courtyard Gallery, Belford Craft Gallery, July 9 to 29. Free entry.

BELFORD-BASED photographer and artist Brian Rogers will be staging a photographic exhibition at the Belford Craft Gallery this month.

For this exhibition, entitled A Year in the Life of a Northumberland Farm, Brian followed local farmer John Riddell for a year to depict the working life on the farm.

“It was a very interesting year, beginning and ending with very heavy snowfalls which had a dramatic effect on farm life,” said Brian.

“The animals in particular made an impact on me, from the joy at the birth of lambs to heartache when animals died in front of me.

“It made me realise just how hard farming is, both physically and mentally.”

Brian’s aim in recording a year on the farm was to give a selection of the many photographs he took, to Berwick Records Office, so that future generations will know what life was like on a Northumberland farm in 2010.

Brian is a member of ‘f8 Borders Photographers’ and has twice previously exhibited with them at Paxton House.

There will be a chance to meet Brian between 1pm and 3pm on Saturday, July 9 – all welcome.

The Craft Gallery is open every day except Mondays from 10am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 5pm, all day Saturday and Sundays from 1pm.
