The latest lavish period drama, Far from the Madding Crowd, adapted from the Thomas Hardy novel, is being screened at the Playhouse on Saturday, June 6, Friday, June 12, and Thursday, July 9, all 7.30pm.

• The junior group of the Alnwick Playhouse Youth Theatre are back on the stage on Tuesday, June 9, with their version of the wonderful children’s classic, Wind in The Willows, by Kenneth Grahame. Join them for the riverbank adventures of Ratty, Mole and Mr Toad. Tickets for the 7pm show are £8, £6 child/student.

• Puccini’s La Boheme, one of the most popular operas, returns in one of The Royal Opera House’s best-loved stagings. It live-streams to the Playhouse on Wednesday, June 10, 7.15pm.
