Author answers book plea

LJ, who writes the bestselling DCI Ryan series, which follows the detective as he hunts down serial killers in the Northumberland landscape, was touched when a reader got in touch to tell her how much she loved her books, but that there were lots of fans hoping to borrow the novels from their local library.

The regulatory lawyer turned author, who is originally from Ponteland, has now donated extra copies of the series to Northumberland libraries in a bid to make sure that fans can get their hands on them in a much shorter timeframe. 

LJ said: “Social media has totally changed the way that authors are able to interact with readers and I love being able to have direct conversations with people. I was really touched to hear that one reader was desperate to get her DCI Ryan fix through her library.

“Libraries provide such a vital service, fostering a love of reading and becoming a focal point for communities, but I know how stretched funding can be, so I was only too pleased to help by sending more copies of Holy Island, Sycamore Gap, Heavenfield and Angel to Northumberland libraries service, which has distributed them among the larger libraries in the county.”

Michelle Watson, reader development librarian for Active Northumberland, said: “We’re delighted that LJ has donated copies of her novels.

“The series is very popular so it’s fantastic to have some extra copies.”
