Traditional entertainment can be found in abundance as a three-day festival begins in Morpeth.
The Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering starts today, offering 60 indoor and outdoor events, competitions and the ever-popular annual pageant through the town centre on Saturday.
The festival focuses on the music, dance, crafts and dialect of the county, and there is a variety of family events and activities to try.
This year’s Gathering commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Miners’ Strike, the 150th anniversary of Northumberland Miners’ Picnic, and 300 years since Sir John Vanbrugh designed Morpeth Town Hall.
A full programme is available at libraries and tourist offices, as well online.
For ticketed events, contact Morpeth Tourist Information Centre in The Chantry on 01670 623455.
