It's show time at the double for sisters

Anne Graydon and Clare Graydon-James carved out their own careers in the arts at opposite ends of the country, but in 2011 they decided to join forces and the User Friendly Theatre Company was born.

Now they will be presenting two very different shows at St Michael’s Parish Hall in Canongate, with words and music written by Clare.

Ducks commemorates the Battle of the Somme and celebrates World War I poet F.W. Harvey.

It can be seen tomorrow (Friday), at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets cost £3 on the door.

On Saturday, the duo will be joined by actress Bev Quinn, a founding member of the Flabagast Arts company, to present fun-filled children’s show Powder Monkeys, in which a lovable monkey puppet tells tales of Horatio Nelson.

It runs at 11.30am and 2.30pm. Tickets cost £2, £5 for a family.

Local actress Anne has performed leading roles in a variety of genres, from Shakespeare and Greek tragedy to musicals and pantomime. She has also taken part in Theatre in Education and improvised role play to teach communication skills in health authorities and universities.

Meanwhile Clare is an award-winning singer, musician, actress and playwright, who has performed solo recitals in a number of London venues, taken stage and operatic roles, including in the Royal Opera House’s outreach programme, and presented her own comic cabaret songs in settings as diverse as Winchester Cathedral and Test Match Special.

Combining their skills, the sisters have developed an inclusive and innovative company.
