A comedy play about time travel will be making its way to Shilbottle later this month. With two actors playing 44 characters, Captain Morgan and the Sands of Time is billed as a show for all the family full of swashbuckling adventures.

It is being staged in partnership with Seaton Delaval Arts Centre and Highlights Rural Touring Scheme.

Captain Morgan and First Mate Hammond are on a quest for the secrets of time travel in what is described as a rip-roaring adventure comedy. All the monsters, sword fights and shivered timbers you would expect from a blockbuster will be delivered by two actors and one musician.

Using only their bodies to conjure up objects and sets, Morgan and Hammond must slay monsters, battle sea gods and outwit a privateer Renshaw to claim the ultimate prize – the sands of time.

The play, written and directed by Ben Behrens and staged by Bristol’s Tap tap Theatre, is described as a Pirates of the Caribbean-like masterpiece of imagination, madcap antics and maritime mayhem.

It is acted by Joe Newton and Ed Richards and performed to live music on fiddle and accordion by Dave Ridley.

It’s on stage at Shilbottle Community Centre on Saturday, April 23, from 7.30pm.
