But the end is not nigh for humanity ... at least for the time being.
Assigned with the catchy name 1994CC, the enormous asteroid will be around 6.6 Lunar Distances from our planet on June 10.
That's around 2.5 million kilometres which, althoug
h it sounds a lot, is the equivalent of being grazed by a bullet in astronomical terms.
And mentioning bullets, this monster is actually travelling considerably faster, at over eight kilometres per second.
No need to worry, though.
As an impact risk, Nasa doesn't rate 1994CC's chances.
