TALENTED youngsters from an Alnwick school have reached the County Final of a cricket competition.

Children from Lindisfarne Middle School won the mixed tournament at the ASDA Kwik Cricket Festival to book their final berth.

Meanwhile, Berwick Middle School won the girls-only competition on the day and will also go through to the county final, which takes place this month.

More than 200 youngsters from middle schools in the Alnwick and Berwick areas took part in the Festival, which was held at Berwick Middle School on Thursday, May 26.

The aim of the day was to give children in Year Five and Six the opportunity to demonstrate the skills they had learnt throughout the schools’ coaching programme.

There was some excellent play during the event and all the children received a certificate and were encouraged to continue playing the game.

Berwick High School’s sports leaders helped out on the day.
