A blast of brilliant bowling to start as Bates Cottages started their run chase helped Tillside to a 61-run win in the Premier Division.

Batting first, the north Northumberland side lost an early wicket before 30s from Matthew Whitty, Sam Culham and Cameron McGregor steadied the ship.

Liam Hindmarsh top-scored with 69 as Tillside posted 220 all out.

in reply, the Hindmarshes – Liam (3-23) and Alan (2-23), along with Stuart Wright ripped through the Cottages’ top order. The tail did wag, but they were all out for 159.

By contrast,Warkworth slumped to a 159-run defeat away at Gateshead Ethnic Minorities, who batted first and scored 303-6, thanks to 126 from Omer Hussain.

Martin Clark (3-52) was the pick of the bowlers.

In reply, the visitors never looked like getting close and were all out for 144. Number 10 George Puddephatt top-scored with 39.

In Division Three, there were wins for Howick, Warenford and Wooler. Tillside and Warkworth twos both lost.
