Village confirm they’re tops

Have your say

NEWLY-CROWNED Division A champions Alnmouth Village rounded-off their league campaign in style, going the whole season undefeated.

A 6-1 victory over the Fleece on Friday saw the champs, who clinched the title almost a fortnight ago with one game remaining, complete the feat.

The comprehensive win, in what was their final league match of the season, meant they finished 10 points ahead of the field.

And with their attention turning to the semi-final of the Knock Out Cup tomorrow night, the Seasiders will have their eyes on sealing a league and cup double.

With the curtain coming down on the league season in the Alnwick Premier Darts League last Friday,

Division A runners-up Alnwick Gate A won 6-1, beating Farriers A. Kev Fletcher scored two 180s in the match while Chris Goodwin checked out on 126.

Oddies B edged a close encounter against George A, winning 4-3, with Sean Turner hitting a 180 on the night, while Alnwick Gate B beat John Bull 5-2. Rob Knox landed a 180 for the Bull but it was the Gate B who proved victorious, with Stu Knowles enjoying a 109 finish.

In Division B, Alnwick Working Men’s Club A beat George B 5-2, but history was made when Deb Quinn of the George landed a 180 – becoming the first woman in the league to hit a maximum.

Meanwhile, Farriers B edged past Tanners Arms B 4-3 while RAFA Club suffered a 6-1 loss to Alnwick Working Men’s Club B.

The clash between Tanners Arms A and Blue Bell A was postponed but is set to be played tomorrow after the Tanners finish their cup semi-final.
