Understrength Alnwick lose to neighbours

Alnwick ll 0 Berwick l 7

Recently-promoted Alnwick Seconds have been struggling for results in their league, so hopes were high for their encounter against Berwick.

Unfortunately, a last-minute drop-out meant Alnwick only had 10 players.

Sarah Gray, normally the star midfield player, found herself in goal for only the second time. She was magnificent all game and walked off with player-of-the-match and opposition player-of-the-match, both well deserved.

The rest of the team put a determined fight, but were overpowered in the first half, conceding five goals.

However, they rallied at half-time and made a much better game of it, conceding only two goals, and even threatening the opposition goal with some really determined play by the whole team.

The game was played in good spirit and Alnwick look forward to the re-match with a full team.

Alnwick: E Fairbairn, S Gray, A Liddle, C Frew, J Broom, K Dawson, L Brown, T Robson, A Lincoln, J McMeekin.
