Alnwick Premier Darts League (week 11)
Once again the Travellers enjoyed a whitewash by beating the Bottles Boys 7-0.
But Bottles captain Scott Walker led from the front in his side’s gallant effort when he not only scored a maximum 180 but also enjoyed a 114 finish in the match. But it was to no avail and his side couldn’t pick up a point.
Alnwick Working Men’s Club B proved to be difficult opponents on their own board for second-spot-chasing John Bull. All square after the singles and doubles, it came down to the team games and the Bull just managed to take the game and the points to win the match by 4-3.
The George and the Oddies B also had a very tough encounter with the George just winning by 4-3, and TeamDinga enjoyed a 5-2 win over the Bottles A to put the teams level on 42 points, only two points adrift of the John Bull with these three sides still battling for the runners-up spot in Division A.
In Division B, Shilbottle A continue to lead comfortably and on Friday won 5-2 at home against Alnwick Working Men’s Club C.
But the Hotspur turned in the performance of the week when they beat Shilbottle B by 7-0, with Hal Hegerty hitting a 180 into the bargain – very unlucky on the Shilbottle team who fought for every point.
The Hotspur’s surge up the table sees them now level on 45 points with Alnwick Working Men’s Club A, who won 5-2 away at Alnwick Golf Club.
The Market Tavern’s challenge faded somewhat when they went down 5-2 at the Oddies A, with C Davison of the Oddies hitting a 180.
