Travellers keep on going despite winning the crown

Alnwick Premier Darts League, Division A

With the league already won, there was still no let-up by the relentless Travellers.

The Golf Club played hosts to a new look AWMC B team.

Some great darts were thrown by father and son J and P Tanney, but with the Travellers’ super-sub Mick Douglas hitting 180, Steve Dunn 177 and the power-scoring of legends Tate and Fletcher, it proved to be too much of an uphill struggle for the Golf Club, the Travellers winning 5-2.

TeamDinga moved into second spot when they whitewashed the out-of-sorts Oddies B 7-0.

Outstanding players of the evening were K Bell and N Masson of the Dinga Boys.

It was derby night at the Bottles in a closely-fought contest. The experience of the A team proved to be crucial, resulting in a 4-3 win.

Division B

In the second derby game of the night at Shilbottle Club, the already-promoted A team won 5-2. A resurgent Hotspur proved too hot too handle for AWMC A team.

D Melbourne, for the Hotspur, hit a 110 finish, taking his team to second in the league with a 5-2 win.

Alnwick Castle Golf Club were the visitors at the Market Tavern, where the valiant efforts of D Lam helped them to a 5-2 win over The Market.

AWMC C hosted The Oddies A and raced into a 3-1 lead after the singles.

The Oddies fought back to make it 3-3 after the pairs and then took the final point in the teams to win 4-3.
