Illness may have curtailed Emma Pringle’s season but the Alnwick triple jumper is already looking ahead to 2013, and finally breaking the 13-metre barrier.
Currently ranked second in the UK in the U23 age group, the 20-year-old had hoped to finish her campaign in style by smashing her personal best at the Jumps & Throws Fest in Birmingham.
But sickness meant she had to pull out and settle for the wind-assisted 12.68m she set earlier in the year.
However, she heads into winter training undeterred, knowing a small improvement is all she needs to get up among GB’s top triple jumpers.
“I need to push on and break that 13m mark next season,” said Emma, who benefits from being a member of the Lloyd’s TSB Local Heroes programme, which in partnership with SportsAid, provides support and funding to 346 of Britain’s most talented developing athletes.
