Sun shines on cup tournament

AFTER weeks of bad weather resulting in disruptions and abandonments, the introduction of the Surridge Sports 20-20 Tournament in the Alnwick and District Cricket League on Saturday heralded a welcome change of fortune, sunshine greeting the opening round of matches.

The new format comprises four groups of three with only the winners progressing to the semi-finals and final at Wooler on Saturday, July 17.

In the event of bad weather Finals Day will be re-arranged to enable a positive outcome.
