TALENTED runners from Alnwick schools represented Northumberland at a prestigious event.

Phillip Winkler, James Woollet, Jess Morrison and Molly Murton, of the Duchess’s Community High School, as well as Adam Weightman, of Lindisfarne Middle School, ran for the county at the Aviva English Schools’ Cross-Country Championships 2011, on Saturday, in Nottingham.

The national event, for all the English School Counties, attracted more than 2,000 athletes.

Both Phillip and Adam ran in the Junior Boys’ Championship (4.1k), while Jess was in the Junior Girls’ Championship (3.25k). Molly ran in the Intermediate Girls’ Championship (4.1k) and James was in the Senior Boys’ Championship (6.8k).
