Stage is set for the 2015 Chevy Chase

The 59th Chevy Chase will be held this weekend, with competitors taking to the hills around Wooler on Saturday, July 4.

The Race is a 20-mile journey through some of the finest upland scenery in Northumberland giving both walkers and runners the opportunity to channel their energies into a rewarding and demanding personal challenge.

All entrants will need to be fit and sure footed, determined, and prepared for all weathers.

The route will take runners and walkers deep into the heart of the “land of the far horizon”; summitting both Cheviot 2676 feet / 815m and Hedgehope 2348 feet / 714m.

All competitors must carry the following:

lFull waterproof whole-body cover. (ie covering the torso from head to ankles)

lOther body cover appropriate for weather conditions, including as minimum, hat and gloves but also a fleece

lWhistle.

lMap, preferably waterproof of the race route and surrounding area.

lCompass suitable for navagating the course (GPS is not acceptable)

lEmergency food and drink.

\The event is organised by Wooler Running Club.

Walkers will set off at 9.30am and their time allowed is eight hours, with runners following at 10.30am. time allowed six hours.
