TALENTED youngsters from Amble’s James Calvert Spence College have tasted sporting success.

The Year 8 Boys’ Sports Hall Athletics team came second in the regional final on January 16, qualifying for the county final at Stanley, County Durham, next month.

They have both qualified to take part in the Northumberland County team who will be traveling to Cumbria on February 4th for the next stage of the competion. There were also impressive results for pupils in the annual Northumberland cross-country competition at Temple Park, South Shields, on January 17, with Kieran Hedley finishing second and Teegan Dryden coming first in the girls’ event.

Both pupils, who are in Year 7, have secured places in the Northumberland county team which will be travelling to Cumbria on February 4 for the next stage of the competition.
