Injury-hit triple-jumper Emma Pringle proved she is on the road to recovery, after grabbing a silver medal in a national competition.
The 22-year-old leapt 12.71m to secure second spot at the recent BUCS Gatorade Nationals in Sheffield.
Despite being 17cm off the winning jump, and not reaching her target 13m mark, it was an encouraging performance from the Gateshead Harrier, who has only recently returned to full training following a calf injury.
“I came into the competition with a slight niggle and it did rear its ugly head,” said the Northumbria University student.
“I tried my best and I am pretty happy with the outcome, it could have been a bit further, but it was okay.
“I picked up a little calf injury in the gym about a month ago. It has put me back a couple of weeks and I was hoping to be 100 per cent, but obviously wasn’t quite there.
“But I gave it my best shot and still came away with a silver medal so I am reasonably happy.”
