Alnwick RFC will look to start this season’s North One East league campaign on the front foot as they travel to Northern on Saturday.

Last season, the Greensfield side narrowly lost both games to Saturday’s hosts, losing out by a total of just six points.

But this term – the club’s second since their promotion from Durham and Northumberland Division One – has already started with a win.

On Saturday, the firsts travelled down to Corbridge to take on Tynedale Raiders in the quarter-finals of the County Cup. The visitors managed to convert a 26-21 half-time lead into a 38-33 victory thanks to a brace of tries each from Moralee and Warcup and further scores from Bulmer and Hamilton.

Alnwick’s first home game is against Driffield on Saturday, September 13.
