Captain’s Day (Jock Jobson Trophy): 1 M Inglis 40pts; 2 M Hodgson 37; 3 LE Stewart 36. The clubhouse at Swansfield rocked last weekend to the sounds of local Queen tribute band The Seven Seas of Whey Aye Man. The 2013 captain Roger Clark drove into office and celebrated his Captain’s Day in style. The weather wasn’t so kind, however, with a blustery breeze blowing for most of the day but with the advantage of it not being as bitterly cold as of late. A warm welcome was awaiting in the clubhouse with members treated to a most enjoyable roast beef roll expertly prepared by steward Mick Hindmarsh. The winner on the day, with an amazing score bearing in mind the windy conditions, was Martin Inglis whose score of 40pts was more than enough to secure first place. Following on in second was Mark Hodgson with 37 and Lawrie Stewart on 36, who beat Tim Pearson in fourth place only on countback. Barry Farrar won the longest drive on the 18th after Michael Smith overhit his drive slightly and it ran right through the green and therefore off the fairway. Wayne Belisle scooped a huge twos pot and he did it in style not by getting his duces at one of the usual par three holes but by holing out in two on the ninth and 16th both of which are par fours. Jocky Wilson was nearest the pin at the 15th.
