When Lucy Newby was upended in the box, the referee pointed to the spot and Jade Barrett fired the home side ahead with a textbook penalty kick. Ash Grisdale extended Rangers’ lead just before half time, diverting another shot from Jade Barrett past the keeper.
Blyth did their best to get at Rangers in the second half, but the title pretenders’ eyes were keenly focussed on the prize. Three swift goals midway through the second half, scored by Amy Lawson, Jade Barrett & Ash Grisdale, calmed the nerves with Amy Lawson netting the sixth.
