GREAT darts were on show as the curtain came up on the new season of the Alnwick Premier Darts League on Friday.
The Gate B made a fine start to the campaign with a 7-0 win over Farriers in Division A.
Neil Masson enjoyed a 109 finish for the victors.
The scoreline was harsh on the Shilbottle men though who had shots at doubles but just could not seem to hit the elusive winning dart.
Elsewhere in Division A, newly-promoted Blue Bell A began life in the top flight in style with an impressive 5-2 victory over the Fleece while rivals Bell Bar B also won with a 4-3 victory against Oddies B.
The John Bull’s Rob Knox landed a 180 but it was not enough to prevent The George snatching a 4-3 win.
In Division B, Alnwick Workingmen’s Club (AWMC) B hit top spot with a 6-1 win over new side The Hotspur, with John Dennis checking out with a 113 finish along the way, while AWMC A recorded a narrow 4-3 triumph over Oddies A.
It was a perfect start for the League’s other new side – Alnwick Gate C – who won on their debut with a 4-3 triumph against Shilbottle Club.
The Gate’s Scott Walker marked his return to the League with a 180.
Alnwick Castle Golf Club B took the early-season bragging rights as they beat Alnwick Castle Golf Club A by the most slender of margins, taking the honours 4-3.
