Alnwick boxer Cyrus Pattinson has been crowned Tyne Tees Wear (TTW) Elite ABA champion and will now compete in the national finals.
The Birtley ABC fighter, who is in the 69kg category, beat Gary Dodds, of Spennymoor, by unanimous decision yesterday.
As previously reported by the Gazette, the 20-year-old earned his place in the TTW final at Forest Hall Boxing Club by defeating England international Stuart Buckley last Friday night by unanimous decision before he beat James Downs on Sunday by first-round knock-out.
Pattinson will now compete in the national ABA finals at the Liverpool Echo Arena at the end of the month.
“Three victories against the best men in the region all with a chest infection and I’m finally Elite ABA area champion,” he said. “When I first started boxing this was one of the things I set out to achieve. Now I’m onto the Nationals. I’ve proved I’m the best in Tyne Tees and Wear, but now it’s time to prove i’m the best in the country.”
