Park life suits the Harriers quartet

Four Alnwick Harriers were in action in north east Parkruns on Saturday, March 30, with the quickest being run by Danny Richardson in a pb at Whitley Bay.

Meanwhile down at the Newcastle Parkrun there was a battle between two female Harrier League Medium Pack runners Sarah Fairbairn and Pauline Aitchison.

Sarah just came out on top, running the quickest Alnwick female 5k of the year so far, thanks to lots of hard work in Monday and Wednesday club speed sessions.

Pauline was first in the female 40 category, while Dave Hindmarsh made his Parkrun debut.

Whitley Bay: 6-Danny Richardson 19.32.

Newcastle: 36-Sarah Fairbairn 20.40; 40-Pauline Aitchison 20.57; 49-Dave Hindmarsh 21.24.

Also that day, Gay and Richard Eastoe competed in the Derwent AC organised 5.5-mile multi-terrain Isel Cross race.

They improved their times by more than half-a-minute from the same race in 2011, clocking 52.39 in 41st and 42nd places.

The following day, six Harriers took part in the North Tyneside 10k.

There were good performances all round with Jackie Moscrop first Harrier. Phil Baston scored a massive 10k pb, following on from his improved 5k performances this year, while 15-year-old daughter Charlotte made her 10k debut in an impressive time.

There were also big improvements by Carol Davison, Morag Donoghue and Ron McCormack compared to the same race last year, with Ron improving by a whole nine minutes.

Results: 282-Jackie Moscrop 43.47; 316-Phil Baston 44.38; 509-Charlotte Baston 48.15; 785-Carol Davison 52.26; 881-Morag Donoghue 53.52; 1180-Ron McCormack 59.11.
