Northern III torn apart by scorching performance

THE Lions came roaring out of the blocks against Northern III.

A searing break from Bremner put Mallaburn through for a 30-metre dash up the middle, with the play ending in an Alnwick try. (5-0).

Bremner converted from the touch-line (7-0).

The same combination of Bremner and Mallaburn had the Lions scrummaging from five metres out and again Dunn smashed his way over to score in the corner (12-0).

Bremner converted from the touch-line once more (14-0).

Matthewson was proving himself to be a pest in the line-out ensuring scrappy ball to the Northern scrum-half, who was held up by Dunn in a choke tackle ensuring an Alnwick penalty.

Dunn tapped the penalty to himself and passed to Bremner who again broke the line. His off-load on the inside allowed Dunn to canter in for his hat-trick within 15 minutes (19-0).

Bremner converted (21-0).

Northern then worked their way up the pitch.

They were rewarded when Dunn was penalised for not releasing and a grateful Northern team kicked the three points (21-3).

Another flowing move had Alnwick just short of the line. A strong Alnwick pack won the scrum against the head for Dunn to smash his way through two tackles to score his fourth try of the half (26-3).

Conversion missed, half-time arrived with the score at 26-3.

The start of the second half had the Northern hooker pinged for hands on the floor and Alnwick elected for a scrum.

Dunn picked up and went with replacement flanker Davis, taking the offload to bang over and score (31-3).

Bremner converted (33-3).

A dominant Alnwick pack again won a scrum against the head to feed Bremner, who once more broke the line brilliantly to put in Smith to run in under the posts to score (38-3).

Bremner converted (40-3).

Another break from the impressive Bremner set up Horsley who surprisingly gave it to Smith to score his second try of the afternoon (45-3).

Bremner converted (47-3).

This was a great performance from a motivated Alnwick Lions team.
