YOUNG riders from north Northumberland won a regional competition and will now compete at national level.

The North Northumberland Pony Club Novice Showjumping Team had an outstanding success at the Northern Area Showjumping competition.

They beat 22 other teams to win the novice event and are going on to compete at the National Pony Club Championships to be held in Cheshire in August.

The victorious team members were Bethan Wylde from New Moor House, Annabel Blythe from Thrunton, Hugh Renner-Thompson from Belford and Michael Walton from Roseden.

Karen Bell is team trainer and worked tirelessly to get the team up to such a high standard.

Duddo rider Felicity Warcup competed as an individual for the club and had two clear rounds, which qualified her for the jump-off in which she came sixth.

Another two of the club’s members, 17-year-old Diana Wrangham, from Harehope, and 21-year-old Jess McKie, from Lanton, both qualified as individuals from the Area 2 Open Eventing, which was run at Hexham and they too go on to the National Championships, which will be held in Derbyshire.
