Mitford take advantage of break in the weather

FOR the third successive Saturday, the weather impacted on the scheduled fixtures, but not to the detriment of the leaders.

Like the previous week, three matches were on and two off.

Mitford survived the weather and maintained their lead with an eight-wicket victory over Alnmouth and Lesbury Seconds after Matthew Lees (5-35) and Scott Lawson (3-31) had bowled out the visitors for 106 in 36.2 overs.

The home side knocked off the required runs in just over 19 overs, opener Mark Parrish leading the way with a half-century.

Champions Warenford kept the pressure on the leaders, also with an eight-wicket romp, after Dan Patterson (6-27) and John Hogg (4-16) had routed visitors Embleton for 44 in 22 overs.

In the only other match to be played, Warkworth won by 32 runs at Tillside, Shaun Taylor top-scoring for the visitors with an unbeaten 53 while Richie Carruthers (4-36) and Steven Lee (3-20) took the bowling plaudits.

There was no play in the Howick v Wooler and Rock v Berwick fixtures.
