A Belford gymnast won a bronze medal in a national level competition and has secured a place in the first Northern Regional Squad as a result of her performance.

Lauren Baillie got her hands on the medal last month when she travelled to South Tyneside for the National Tumbling Grades.

The youngster, who belongs to Berwick Gymnastics Club, secured her prize in the 13+years National 1.

A spot in the Northern Regional Squad was the icing on the cake for the Seahouses Middle School pupil.

There was medal joy at the event for some of her other clubmates.

Ross Hume won gold in the 13+years National 2 while Josie Newton was awarded silver in the 9/10 years National 1.

Both are from Berwick.

Ross will go on to compete in the National Finals at Stoke-on-Trent in June

Following her Schools’ Tumbling medal success, Abigail Hood, also from Berwick, just missed out on a medal in the 13+years National 2. She tumbled well and achieved personal best scores for the runs she did.

Berwick Gymnastics Club will be putting on extra classes on June 16 and 23.
