Maximum entertainment at the oche

CLINICAL finishing was on display in the Alnwick Premier Darts League on Friday night with a number of maximums landed at the oche.

The Division A match between the Bell Bar B and the Gate B saw three 180s, in what was the second week of fixtures in the league.

Bill Friar and Keith Appleby from the Bell and Stu Knowles of the Gate were the maximum men in the contest which saw the Bell come from behind to win the match 4-3.

Alnwick Gate A, who were playing their first game of the season having not had a fixture in week one of league competition, opened their Division A account in emphatic style with a 6-1 win against Blue Bell A.

Roy Belisle was the lone scorer for the Bell, defeating Ian Tate in the singles.

This was some revenge for Belisle, who was beaten narrowly by Tate in last season’s league singles final.

Division A also saw the John Bull take the honours 4-3 in a keenly-fought battle with Oddies B while the Fleece battled hard but went down 5-2 at home to The George.

Things were tight in Division B.

League newcomers Alnwick Gate C continued their good start to the season by beating Alnwick Working Men’s Club (AWMC) A 4-3, while The Hotspur also won 4-3 at Alnwick Castle Golf Club B.

It was the same scoreline in the contest between Alnwick Castle Golf Club A and Oddies A, with the Golf Club teeing up the victory.

AWMC B failed to text their result in so no details were available from their match against The Market Tavern.
