Following last week’s ‘try crazy’ victory against Old Crossleyans the home side were in good form to finish the season in high spirits.

The fine weather put the home-side in a good mood as less than 20 minutes into the match, a penalty try to Alnwick saw them take an early lead 7-0.

But the opposition, Northern FC, came back moments later with a lucky bounce to equalise 7-7.

Keeping up the pace, Gothorp set up Todd to bring it in under the post to see Alnwick 14-7.

Alnwick continued to gain but determined not to lose, Northern scored straight after half time but Alnwick worked back the lead to 21-17.

The home-side’s lead was eroded away and the teams were neck-and-neck going into the closing stages.

The final score saw Alnwick finish the season 27-27 in a hard-fought match.
