Marathon sell-out

Have your say

The North East Marathon Club (NEMC) race is sold out, having reached its capacity in a matter of weeks, and the 60-strong field boasts a good calibre of athletes.

Those set to compete include local runners such as NEMC secretary Jim Manford and Alnwick Harriers Cris Atwell and Mike Telfer, as well as some of the country’s most experienced marathon runners, including Brian Mills, who has run over 800 marathons, and NEMC’s Matt Cawood who recently completed the 10 Marathons in 10 Days Challenge around Windermere.

The event starts at 10am by the river at Alnmouth, runs up the coastal path to Long Nanny Bridge at the south of Beadnell Bay and then back.

Next year, NEMC has plans to incorporate the event into a proposed Tour of Northumbria – with four separate marathons in four scenic locations in the North East with special awards for any runner who completes all four.
