Results from Alnwick and Amble angling clubs

Alnwick Sea Angling Club

Sunday’s match was the marathon and was fished over 12 hours.

The sea was calm, which didn’t provide ideal conditions for cod. However, there was a good weigh-in and most anglers managed to catch.

Steve Ayling had an excellent bag of four cod and a pollack for 17lb 6oz and this included the heaviest fish, a cod of 7lb 7oz which was also the heaviest fish of the season.

Willy Morton was second with eight cod for 12lb 6oz, narrowly beating Anthony Gibbison who was third with seven cod for 12lb 5oz.

Other anglers weighing in were: Antony Abbott, two cod, one flounder for 11lb 4oz; Steve Scott, five cod, 10lb 14½oz; John Stephenson, five cod, 9lb 13½oz; Ian Hall, five cod, one pollack, 9lb 3oz; Mickey Buck, two cod, one flounder, 6lb 7½oz; George Hornsby, two cod, two coalies, 5lb 9oz; Clive Miller, three cod, 4lb 3oz; Patrick Porteous, one pollack, two coalies, 3lb 6oz; Kevin Donnelly, one cod, one flounder, 2lb 14oz; Andrew Stanton, one cod, one flounder, 1lb 11½oz; Steve McKee, one cod, 1lb 1½oz.

Results: Craig Middlemist, two coalie, two flats, 2lb 12¾oz; Ian Harrogate, two cod, 2lb 5¼oz; George Spuhler, one cod, 2lb 0¼oz; Ken Middlemist, two flats, 1lb 10½oz; Paul Gair, one cod, one flat, 1lb 7½oz; Tony Cook, two flats, 13½oz; Jacek Juszczyk, two flats, 13¼oz; Zac Aynsley, one whiting, 10¼oz; Colin Dawson, one flat, 8¼oz; Les Weller, one flat, 8oz.

Heaviest fish: George Spuhler. Heaviest flatfish: Ken Middlemist, 14½oz.
