Race is on to sign up for Bay 10K

A CHARITY run, which raised more than £15,000 last year, is returning for the third time this spring.

Runners will be encouraged to put their best foot forward at the third Druridge Bay 10K Charity Run, set to take place on Sunday, May 24.

And this year, Northeast Press Ltd has teamed up with race organisers to boost the event, which is raising money for Grace House North East Children's Hospice Appeal.

Runners will start and finish at Druridge Bay Country Park and the course includes a stretch along the picturesque Druridge Bay beach, south of Amble, in Northumberland.

Last year, 411 people took part but it is hoped that entries will exceed this figure this time around.

In its first year, the event raised more than 11,000 in aid of Asthma UK and the Northern Rock Foundation matched the contributions to increase the total sum raised from this single event to 34,000.

Last year, more than 15,000 was raised for The British Heart Foundation.

To take part this year, download, print off and complete the entry form below. Return it to Druridge Bay 10K, Druridge Bay Country Park, Red Row, Morpeth NE61 5BX, along with your fee.

Closing date for postal entries is May 1, 2009, and the race is limited to the first 1,000 entries received.

On the day, the entry fee is 17.50, subject to availability. The event is not wheelchair accessible.

Minimum entry age is 13 years on May 24, 2009, and all under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The event is open to all standards of runners and fancy dress participants are welcome. The race starts at 10.30am.
