A team from the Percy Hunt Pony Club have retained their national title, recording the highest score the competition has seen in more than 25 years.

Rebecca and Suzanne Barwise-Munro, Lizzie Pettifer and Steph Courty defended their Open Girls’ Team crown at the National Tetrathlon Championships.

The team recorded the highest score since 1986. Only two other teams have scored more in its history.

On top of that, Steph won the Individual Girls’ National Title, while Suzanne and Rebecca finished fourth and fifth respectively.

A delighted Steph, 17, from South Charlton, said it was great for the team to retain the title and praised the group’s spirit.

She was also overwhelmed to take the honours in the individual contest, which saw her produce personal best shoot and swim results, as well as riding a clear round over the cross-country riding phase.

Rebecca and Steph also represented the winning England team in the Home International Competition.

Harvey Coxon was eighth in the Intermediate Boys.
