Gymnast gem lands medals

Teenage tumbler Sam Dronsfield picked up two bronze medals in the finals of the British Open Tournament.

The 17-year-old from Glanton landed both of his tumbles well to walk away with the two pieces of silverware.

His first tumble scored 29.2, the second scored 29.3.

Sam said he was really pleased with how he managed to land his tumbles during the event, at Stoke-on-Trent at the end of last month.

The gymnast is still fighting a back injury, which he picked up earlier this year.

Sam, a member of the Deerness Gymnastics Academy, in Durham, thought he was over it, but it flared back up in the weeks leading up to the competition.
