Christmas Sweep (Week nine): The runaway winner was George Ridgeway with 20pts, followed by four people sharing second place with 17pts – Ian Simpson, Neville Holden, David Inkster and Stephen Yeadon.

Final league places for 2012 Christmas Sweep: 1 Bob Hill 97pts; 2 Bob Boyle 94; 3 David Trotter 93.

Seniors Christmas Sweep: Last week’s round was, unfortunately, a casualty of the winter weather. So with just one more week to play, it’s very, very close indeed, with just three points separating the top seven. Therefore this week’s final round should be intensely competitive, the current placings are as follows: 1 Dickie Campbell, Mike Joice and Jack Ross all on 76pts; 4 Bob Boyle and Tom Harris 74; 6 Jack Kidd and Bob Stephenson 73. This Saturday, at 7:30pm, we present our ever popular, Christmas party and annual pantomime (Little Red Riding Hood), starring many of the club’s leading personalities. The following Saturday, December 22, we have live music with the incredible, Human Jukebox, Pete Lincoln, providing the entertainment.

Results: As both the course and the players emerged from the snow and ice after a two-week lay-off it was quite a pleasant morning at Swansfield last week. There were no less than five players all on the top score of 36pts and countback decided the places. After the mathematics were done Ian Watson was declared the winner from Alan Black in second, in third place was young Marc Friar with Wayne Belisle and Steven Cooper the other players on 36pts. A relatively small twos club with Dan Swordy,Wayne Belisle,Steve Barron and Duy Lam all recording deuces on the day.

Zecca Eclectic Challenge: There was little change in the Zecca Eclectic challenge; Alan Dodd still leads the chasing pack by two points from Kenny Darlow with Lawrie Stewart and Malcolm Peart a further point back.

Order of merit: Only two movers of any significance; Wayne Belisle replaces James Cookson at the top of the table and Eddy Jury jumps from 16th to fifth position.

Winter League (Week eight): 1 I Watson 36pts (on back six); 2 A Black 36 (on back nine); 3 M Friar 36 (on last three).

Zecca Eclectic: A Dodd 54pts; K W Darlow 52; LE Stewart 51; M Peart 51.

Order of Merit: W Belisle 34pts; J Cookson 26; PJD Lewis 25; S Barron 23. No, I didn’t know there had been one there either.
