The presentation, which was his maiden speech, was expertly handled by vice captain Ian Hogg deputising for Billy Brown who had acted as starter all day long.

Speaking of Billy, the captain is holding a charity wine tasting and auction on Saturday, July 16, featuring some amazing Pieroth wines and even more amazing auction lots.

Tickets are only £5 for the evening and all proceeds go towards Billy’s chosen captain’s charity The Oncology Day Unit at Alnwick Infirmary. Members please get your tickets for you and your guests in advance from the clubhouse as soon as possible for this very worthy cause.

Last week saw 24 members of the Senior Section visit Kinross for their annual three day trip. A great time was had by all on The Montgomery and Bruce courses during the day and at The Green Hotel in the evenings.
