Alnmouth (VILL)

Men’s Easter Sweep, January 27: R Archibold (20); MJ Campbell (19); D Inkster, M Douglas and C Reid (17).

Men’s Easter Sweep, February 3: M Hill (21); N Holden, G Ridgway and R Holden (19); C Reid, R Campbell, S McKee and S Foreman (18).

Seniors Easter Sweep, January 31: Only nine members braved the raging hoolie of a gale and even then two turned back after a few holes. Apart from David Gleadall (17) the scoring was very low and with the wind moving the balls on the greens, the official competition was sensibly declared void, although David still collected the sweep winnings. Jack Ross leads the cumulative league table, closely followed by Bob Stephenson and Colin Reid. Despite the recent snow and rain, the oldest nine-hole links course in England has only been unplayable for a few days when the snow blanket froze. Obviously, the sea air helps melt away the white stuff much quicker than anywhere inland. The over-flow from the pond has only flooded the practice area and has not affected full rounds of golf. Therefore, if your course is closed and suffering with the wet conditions then you’ll be most welcome as a visitor at Alnmouth Village.
