Juniors get just rewards

North Shields U16 1 FC Amble Juniors U16 2

U16 Division Two

FC Amble Juniors travelled to Shields knowing they would be in for a tough game.

The boys got off to a brilliant start, with Callum Fenwick linking well with Ali Batey, who squared the ball for Jason Imeson to fire on target.

The keeper got his hands to the ball, but Imeson followed up his shot to blast the ball into the back of the net for a 0-1 lead.

Two good tackles from James Byrne and Ronan Straughan prevented Shields attacking down the flanks and crossing into the box.

Batey was bearing down on goal for Amble, but a recovering defender came across to win the ball.

Batey was involved again, going for a 50/50 ball, but it spun away out his reach.

Shayne Wright worked hard on the left-wing, while Josh Briggs caused havoc for the Shields defence with his pace, effort and determination, going close on a number of occasions.

Shields were awarded a free-kick to the astonishment of the Amble players.

They played the ball into the penalty area and then to the back-post to tap in the equaliser (1-1).

Amble kept pushing forward in the second half with some good chances just going wide, Phil Brown pulled off a couple of good saves, with Amble mostly in control of the game.

With 10 minutes remaining, Amble pushed forward, then a Fenwick corner to Batey then Briggs getting a touch onto Imeson, who fired in the ball for a cool finish and to collect another three well-deserved points.
