Druridge Bay 10K 2012 event

Runners are being encouraged to sign up for a popular charity race in aid of a Northumberland-based hospice – with the aim of smashing the £10,000 barrier.

HospiceCare North Northumberland has been named as the benefactor of this year’s Druridge Bay 10K, on May 26.

The 2012 event raised money for the same cause, collecting more than £7,000.

And those at the hospice are hoping to reach a five-figure sum this time round.

The scenic 10k is suitable for competitive runners, gentle joggers and fancy-dress walkers and entry is now open. Visit www.druridge bay10k.org.uk for details or entry.

The hospice has other sporty fund-raisers this year.

Events include a charity golf day at the Alnmouth Foxton Golf Course on May 14 and fly fishing at Chatton on September 15.
