Linden Hall retains junior league crown in style

Tustain Motors North Northumberland Junior Golf League

After a weather-disrupted golf season, Linden Hall finally came through in style by retaining their status as league champions, taking full points at home to Rothbury and winning by a margin of eight points from Alnwick, who chased them all the way.

It was impossible to keep track on how the league was doing with so many matches being postponed causing a pile-up of fixtures and the league having to be stretched by four weeks.

Unfortunately, Bamburgh were finding it difficult to field a team every week and eventually pulled out of the league.

Linden Hall are on track for a double as they are in the final of the knock-out cup awaiting the winners between Alnwick and Longhirst due to be played in the next week.

The season is not yet over – the junior field day will be held at Bamburgh on September 9, with all juniors who have played in the league playing for individual and team prizes.

The annual match against Northumbria Juniors will be played at Newcastle United Golf Club on September 16.

The league congratulated Jake Storey of Alnmouth, one of its juniors who, at 15, became English Junior U16 champion, a ‘fantastic achievement’.
