CHILDREN are invited to the next Try a Tri session, as the countdown to this summer’s Alnwick Kids Triathlon continues.

Youngsters can give the sport a go at a class on Sunday at the town’s Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre, in preparation for the main event on July 8.

This weekend’s session will be based on bike skills, including bike-to-run transitions.

The car park around Sainsbury’s, Argos and Homebase will be used for the activities.

Participants will need to bring their own suitable clothing, bike with helmet and trainers (without all of these they won’t be able to participate). The session is open to children under the age of 15.

Children under eight years old on the day of the session must have a parent or adult guardian present, and they will be responsible for the child throughout.

It is preferred that all parents remain during the class, which runs from 4.30pm to 5.30pm and costs £1 per child.

The session will be led by British Triathlon Level 3 Coach, Paul Jones.
