ALNMOUTH and Lesbury U11s continued their recent good form on Sunday at Corbridge in the Northumberland Junior League Cup quarter-final.
An organised and disciplined performance proved too much for Corbridge as early season promise was finally fulfilled and mistakes were cut to a minimum.
Alnmouth batted first and ran exceptionally well between the wickets, turning ones into twos and punishing the bad balls.
Highest scorers were Nick Robertson, 25, and Tom Harrop, with 19, while Joe Tudor, 14, and Oliver Tulip, 10, also made double figures.
When Corbridge came to bat they found that the accuracy of the bowling and the intensity of the fielding was very hard to come to terms with, coupled with the lightening reactions of wicket-keeper Archie Elder.
Pick of the bowling was Lukas Robinson, who took three wickets for no runs, Tom Harrop with two for eight and Nick Robertson with two for 10.
Further wickets were taken by Dan Phillips and Sam Thompson.
Corbridge had a late flourish and went down fighting, but Alnmouth were satisfied to keep their unbeaten run going and secure their place in the semi-finals, with a 119-run victory.
