Junior Harrier takes top spot in 25th running of Darlington 10K

A strong performance by Alnwick Junior Harrier, Daniel Leng, culminated in him coming first in the Young Athletes category of the Darlington 10K last Sunday in a time of 38:35.

It was the 25th anniversary of Darlington’s Road Race, which follows a two-lap route finishing in the town centre. Record numbers of runners took part in the race with Ethiopian Yared Hagos taking first place for the second year running.

The day before, Phil Lee was the first of three senior Harriers to finish the Newcastle Parkrun. Results: 98-Phil Lee 23.32; 135-Charlotte Baston 24.39; 136-Phil Baston 24.40. On the same day, three Harriers took part in the Glanton Hill Race. Bruce Crombie continued his fine form on the fells by finishing second, just pipping recent Northumberland Coastal Run hero Phil Helmsley. Mark Hume also took part.
